Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot has reversed his controversial policy of not prosecuting thefts under $750.

The move comes after months of criticism from residents and local law enforcement and scrutiny in news coverage from The Dallas Express.

“I want the people of Dallas County and our partner police agencies to know that I have heard their concerns,” Creuzot said in a press release provided to The Dallas Express. “I will change when change is needed, so to that end, I am rescinding the policy.

“Through data analysis, and conversations with community organizations, retailers, and independent loss prevention specialists, I found the policy had zero effect on crime in the county – positive or negative,” Creuzot claimed.

“I have come to the understanding that this policy is more aspirational than realistic and rather than helping those in need, I have watched that population, and primarily people of color, be blamed for a rise in crime,” he continued.

Creuzot’s decision follows months of backlash over the policy, with political opponents calling the district attorney “Let-em-go Creuzot.”

In defense of his non-prosecution strategy, Creuzot stated in the press release that it only applied to “the theft of necessary items like food, diapers, or baby formula that amounts between $100 and $750 … unless evidence shows the theft was for economic gain.”

He claimed he intended to “decriminalize poverty” but that his policy had been “misrepresented and politicized,” allegedly creating “a sense of mistrust about [his] office.”

Creuzot also blamed misconceptions about his non-prosecution policy for its poor reception, providing “a small sampling of things [his] office has been unfairly accused [of].”

He suggested that people had alleged his policy contributed to the “thefts of televisions, motorcycles, and catalytic converters,” that he had told police “not to file any catalytic converter cases,” that his office was “no longer accepting any misdemeanor theft cases,” and that businesses had to close as a consequence of the policy.

Recently, Creuzot blamed reporting by The Dallas Express for the public backlash, apparently becoming “visibly rattled” when challenged over his policies at an event.

Creuzot won another four-year term as district attorney earlier this month over a challenge from former Dallas district attorney Faith Johnson, as reported by The Dallas Express. While Creuzot underperformed the other Democrats on the ticket, he still received over 60% of the vote.

His victory was in part funded by donations from groups linked to left-wing megadonor George Soros, who has fueled the election of many far-left district attorneys across the county.

If the DA’s offices refuses to prosecute any crime, it’s simply not doing it’s job, and is subjecting the citizens to ever increasing criminal activity. It’s not just theft that’s increasing due to lax prosecution and penalties for minor criminal activity, but all crime has increased.

If the DA isn’t doing his job, that leads to police being frustrated with having to fill out lengthy reports, that’s time consuming, and takes them off the streets where the crimes and incidents occur, making response times longer.

Data analysis shows the effect of not prosecuting thefts under $750 had no effect on the number of thefts under $750 being reported. Why would a business owner take the time to report a crime the police and prosecutor won’t act on? Hence, the policy resulted in no change in reported crimes. What could be simpler?

Best to keep an eye on whether he keeps his word. He can easily SAY he rescinds the policy and then just continue not charging them.

Have y’all seen the video of machines adding votes after hours at the UPUMC polling location? Abbott has more than Harris Co to investigate.

Produce the link to said videos, which you wont, because they dont exist. Thats to say no real videos exist. im sure sites you watch for “the truth” have produced videos with just enough quality to get you onboard quickly , LOL. Cruezot isnt perfect but he is accountable and acknowledges his mistakes as well as successes. Get Greg Abbott to do that once….Ill wait.

I never liked this law, but I voted for him. It was doomed from the start. I saw a lady walk out the front door of krogers with over $400 worth of groceries, no body said a word! She got in her car and left. Creuzot made a mistake but he can fix it. If everybody went in krogers and left with $400 worth of groceries , krogers would go out of business soon, and the company’s insurance would drop them. If you need help ask for it, there are still good people in this sinful world.

What does George Soros has to do with this issue? Wealthy mega donors exist on both sides of the isle. Except one side discloses where the donations come from and the other side hides their contributions with “Dark” money. Cruezot admitted the policy was well intentioned, but impractical. And in light of the mis-conceptions, misrepresentations, and downright lies of those hell bent on blaming Democrats for the sun not shining 365 days a year, he did the right thing.

Because Soros is evil incarnate. He is backing people who are trying to destroy this country. Destroying family morals and sending the country into financial devastation and ruin. Not to mention the increase in crime and danger to the people. It amazes me how people go along with the dems hollering, “Tax the rich”, when those same people are extremely wealthy. How do you suppose they got that wealth? Underhanded, illegal methods in there somewhere. You can bet on it.

What also needs to be highlighted is the fact that George Soros funded his campaign.
