Authorities have arrested a third suspect in connection with the murder of a Fort Worth man who was fatally shot outside of his home in 2020.

Jail records show that 20-year-old Derrick D. Daniels of Fort Worth has been arrested in connection to the 2020 killing of 49-year-old Francisco “Panchito” Macias.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Daniels was arrested and booked into jail at about 5:30 p.m. on March 3.

Two other suspects, 21-year-old Jeremiah Daniels-Simon and 19-year-old Alicia Jean Peoples, were arrested in connection to Macias’ murder last fall.

Macias was killed on October 22, 2020 in front of his home in the 5100 block of Anderson Street while preparing to leave for work.

As he was getting into his truck, four people allegedly approached in a vehicle and shot him.

After the incident, Fort Worth Police released a video of the dark-colored vehicle that they believe was being driven by the suspects.

Macias’ family members said they heard gunshots and later found him lying in front of his pickup truck. Court records state the incident was an attempted robbery.

The victim’s daughter, Cynthia Macias, was the first to dial 911 to report her father’s shooting. Cynthia and her brother, Mirka, performed CPR on their father with the guidance of a dispatcher while waiting for paramedics to respond to the scene.

Upon arrival, medics told the siblings that Macias had a weak pulse. The 49-year-old was pronounced dead approximately 30 minutes later at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital.

Tarrant County criminal court records show Peoples and Daniels-Simon have been charged with capital murder. They are currently being held in the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth.

Daniels is now also facing a capital murder charge for his alleged role in Macias’ murder.
