More than a dozen anti-Israel protesters were arrested outside of Dallas Love Field Monday night as President Joe Biden was arriving at the airport.

The Dallas Police Department arrested 13 people who were outside the airport blocking traffic at the Mockingbird Lane and Herb Kelleher Way intersection around 6:20 p.m., according to NBC 5 DFW.

The people were protesting in support of Palestinians, holding signs calling on Biden to attempt to negotiate a ceasefire. As previously reported by The Dallas Express, cities in Texas and around the country have been seeing a rise in such demonstrations following the outbreak of war between the Jewish state and the terrorist organization Hamas in Gaza.

The Palestinian Youth Movement, which describes itself as a “transnational, independent, grassroots movement of young Palestinians in Palestine and in exile worldwide,” helped organize the protest and posted about the arrests on social media.

“One protester arrested includes a former Palestinian intern of the late Eddie Bernice Johnson who Biden is in town to pay respects to,” detailed the organization in the post.

Nashwa Abdelwahed, a spokesperson for the group, made claims after the arrests that the president has “essentially been aiding and abetting Israel’s war crimes.”

“We’re not going to let any of these politicians rest, including Biden, while Palestinians have no justice,” she added, as reported by The Dallas Morning News.

Police department officials said that the protesters were told multiple times to leave the intersection and received three warnings, but they refused to leave and were then arrested.

The arrested protesters were charged with obstruction of a highway or passageway, per NBC 5.

Biden was in the city for the wake of former Texas congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, who died on December 31, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

The service was held at Concord Church, and a funeral is scheduled for Tuesday.

This trip was the first time that the president has made an appearance in Dallas since he was elected in 2020, but he flew out of the city on Monday night after the conclusion of the event.
