Dallas police are searching for the drivers of two cars allegedly street racing believed to be involved in the death of 73-year-old Linda Pearson.
Pearson was walking her dog along her usual route around 2:15 pm when she crossed busy Ferguson Road near Heartline Drive in Far East Dallas. Pearson was struck by one of the two cars that were believed to be racing.
A black Chevrolet Impala was seen on a neighbor’s surveillance camera speeding alongside a yellow Chevrolet Camaro. Both vehicles were traveling south at 10100 Ferguson Road. It is unclear which car struck and killed Pearson.
According to Peyton Yeager of Fox 4 News, police were seen picking up black pieces assumed to be from one of the vehicles. Both cars continued to speed down the road, failing to stop and render aid.
Fox 4 News also reported that Pearson’s dog was struck by the car and sustained serious injuries. The dog was taken to a local vet for treatment.
Vehicle Crime Detectives are searching for the two vehicles. The Chevrolet Impala appears to be a 2014-2020 LTX/Premier model and has chrome side mirror caps and chrome body molding on the side. It is possible the vehicle could have damage to the front passenger head and fog lights. The yellow Chevrolet Camaro has a black racing stripe on the hood.
Pearson’s neighbor, Pamela Caraway, says she and Linda would often talk about the street racing taking place in their neighborhood, “They street race down here all the time…I always knew it would happen, but not this close to home,” Caraway told Fox 4 News.
