Less than a week before the 43rd St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Greenville Avenue kicks off, here is everything you need to know for the big day.

The annual parade is part of the wider Dallas Mavs St. Patrick’s Parade & Festival, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 16. The parade itself departs from Greenville Avenue and Blackwell Street, near Half Price Books, at 11 a.m. It concludes at 2 p.m. on SMU Boulevard.

This is the third year the event will occur following its recent two-year hiatus. As reported by The Dallas Express in 2022, the event was paused in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The parade will result in several road closures, including the stretch between Park Lane and Mockingbird Lane along Greenville Avenue, from roughly 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If opting to arrive via DART, grab the Red or Orange Line to Park Lane at Greenville Avenue or Lovers Lane at Central Expressway. Green Line riders can transfer to the Orange or Red Line in Downtown Dallas, while those on the Trinity Railway Express can transfer at Victory Station.

The parade is considered the largest of its kind in the Southwest celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, with upwards of 125,000 people expected to attend the festival, according to The Dallas Morning News. The legendary Mike Modano of Dallas Stars fame is the grand marshal for the 2024 parade. Following the festivities, Modano will be honored with a statue unveiling at 4 p.m. at the American Airlines Center.

Proceeds from the parade go toward the Greenville Avenue Area Business Association’s DISD College Scholarship Program.

In addition to the parade, ambitious residents can participate in the St. Paddy’s Day Dash 5K, which starts at 8 a.m. at Energy Square. To register for the event online, click here. You can also register on the day of the event, but it will cost you between $10 and $15 more, and you will need to arrive early.

A festival will be running near the parade where visitors can enjoy vendors, food trucks, a family zone, and other pop-ups in the former CVS parking lot located at Greenville Avenue and Lovers Lane. For those without children, an adults-only block party on Lower Greenville Avenue will also take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $20.

Are you looking for something different on March 16? The City has plenty of other options for St. Patrick’s Day, like special brunches, traditional bagpipes performed live, and green beer specials.
