This most recent data in our ongoing series contains restaurants inspected from January 15 to February 14 gathered on February 20.
Dallas health inspectors grade the City’s eating establishments on a 100-point scale. Those earning a score of 70 or above are considered passing, while those with a score of 69 or below are considered failing, per the City of Dallas.
Restaurants with scores of 80 to 100 would only be required to submit to regular inspections every six months. Entities scoring between 70 and 79 must undergo re-inspection within 30 days, and establishments scoring from 60 to 69 must submit for review within ten days or face closure.
Entities scoring below 60 require immediate closure, with a re-inspection required before reopening.
Of the 667 entities inspected by county officials between January 15 and February 14, only 31, or under 5%, had perfect health inspection scores.
The Dallas Express visited one of these entities, Shake Shack, located at 6025 Royal Lane in Dallas. This burger chain originally started in Madison Square Park, New York City, and is known for its burgers and frozen custard.
Upon arrival at the chain, our reporter quickly noted that the floors and tables appeared clean, and the overall atmosphere communicated a fresh environment.
Our reporter ordered a regular Shack Burger with lettuce, tomato, and “ShackSauce,” fries, and a small vanilla shake. The staff was very friendly and took the order with patience and professionalism.
The burger itself could only be described as delicious. The Shack Sauce offered a savory and tangy complement to the burger’s robust flavor. The fries were hot and crisp. The shake was a creamy, delicious treat.
The overall experience was favorable, with the restaurant aptly providing a clean atmosphere and flavorful food. The Dallas Express attempted to contact the chain’s corporate leaders but did not receive a comment as of the print date.
