Wendy’s has launched its “Mercury Menu” that will run while Mercury is in retrograde, from April 21 to May 14.

Through the fast food chain’s mobile app, Wendy’s is offering free food to cope with the planetary phenomenon, which happens around three to four times per year when Mercury moves slower than Earth around the Sun, according to NBC 5 DFW.

When Mercury enters retrograde, proponents of astrology believe it marks the beginning of a span of misfortune on Earth, according to Time Magazine.

“… [W]hile it may feel like their lives are in the microwave thanks to Mercury … their Wendy’s food never is. Wendy’s keeps it fresh and its menu hits every.single.time,” Wendy’s said in a press release.

The Mercury Menu deals:

  • Friday, April 21 — Sunday, April 23: BOGO $1 Premium Sandwich with any purchase
  • Monday, April 24 — Sunday, April 30: Free Crispy Chicken Sandwich with any purchase
  • Monday, May 1 — Sunday, May 7: Free 6-piece Crispy or Spicy Chicken Nuggets with any purchase
  • Monday, May 8 — Sunday, May 14: Free any size Hot & Crispy Fry with any purchase

“Mercury in Retrograde” is an optical illusion caused by Earth’s positioning that makes Mercury appear to have switched directions, according to Farmer’s Almanac.

It marks a time associated with “meltdowns, false gossip, miscommunications, technology fails … issues in travel, missed connections and delays in hearing pertinent information,” astrologer Lisa Stardust said, according to NBC 5 DFW.

With over $11 billion in sales at over 5,938 restaurants in 2021, Wendy’s had the fifth-highest revenues of any fast-food chain, according to The Street.

Wendy’s is valued at $5.13 billion, and its stock is up 3% year-to-date, according to Google Finance.
