McDonald’s is betting that nothing says romance like chicken nuggets topped with fish eggs.

The fast-food giant announced on Monday that it will offer FREE McNugget Caviar kits starting February 10, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The unusual pairing reflects McDonald’s attempt to tap into social media trends where customers already experiment with upscale toppings on everyday menu items. It also marks the chain’s first collaboration with Paramount Caviar, a supplier to luxury hotels and restaurants.

Each kit contains a one-ounce tin of caviar, a $25 Arch Card for purchasing McNuggets, crème fraîche, and a mother-of-pearl spoon.

The limited-edition packages will be available exclusively at McNuggetCaviar.com beginning at 10 a.m. CT on February 10.

“McNugget Caviar was created because of our customers. They’ve been pairing Chicken McNuggets with caviar long before we made it official,” a McDonald’s spokesperson told FOX Business. “We know our fans want to enjoy elevated experiences without the price tag, so we want to treat them to something special — completely on us.”

The promotion will be available only online while supplies last. The company hasn’t disclosed how many kits will be available.

McDonald’s decision to combine its signature nuggets with luxury caviar follows other recent attempts by fast-food chains to create buzz through unexpected menu mashups.
