Dallas-Fort Worth is one of the top-performing markets for office-based employment.

The DFW area ranked 7 out of 10 for “Best Metros for Office Jobs in 2023,” according to a new study by Yardi Kube, a New York-based software company and coworking platform.

“The return to the office movement following the COVID-19 pandemic has been embraced by employees as the need for collaboration and the sense of community in the workplace have led many to want to give up remote work, at least partially,” the study said.

“While hybrid work allows people to make the best of both dynamics, in-office work is necessary for the well-being of both the employees and the company they work for.”

Out of the top 10 best metros for office jobs, seven were located in the South while the other three were in the West. The DFW and Austin metros were the two Texas-based markets that made the list, coming in at No.7 and No.2, respectively.

“Dallas-Fort Worth stands out with office workers representing 30% of the entire working population, showcasing the area’s strong inclination towards office-centric professions,” Yardi Kube communication specialist Madeline Fagaras told The Dallas Express in an email.

To conduct its study, Yardi Kube ranked the top 50 largest metro areas in the U.S. based on seven metrics, including office-using employment percent in total nonfarm employment; office-using employment growth rate; unemployment rate; office sector job mobility; office sector establishments density; median earnings; and regional price parity.

Overall, the DFW region boasts a job mobility rate of 8.4%, which the report indicates is a dynamic job market where professionals actively seek and transition into office roles.

With a median income of approximately $69,000 and a regional price parity of 103.9, living in DFW “can be more than affordable and comfortable for those choosing office jobs” in the area, Fagaras told The Dallas Express.

The report excluded Detroit and Memphis because of a lack of job mobility data for those cities.

The top 10 cities were:

1            Raleigh, NC

2            Austin, TX

3            San Jose, CA

4            Charlotte, NC

5            Atlanta, GA

6            Jacksonville, FL

7            Dallas-Fort Worth, TX

8            Tampa, FL

9            San Francisco, CA

10          Denver, CO
