Dallas has been ranked one of the most popular destinations for business travel in the United States.
Dallas ranked fourth as a popular destination among the country’s business travelers during the third quarter of 2024, based on data gathered by Corporate Traveler and FCM Travel. New York City took the top spot, followed by Chicago and Boston.
“Given the allure of the world-class city and its bustling business scene, Dallas continues to stand out as a premier business travel destination… Serving as the home to one of the country’s busiest airports, Dallas is able to attract and welcome corporate travelers from all over the U.S., while its central location in North Texas is also great for local businesses looking to stay connected in the surrounding areas,” said John Van den Heuvel, president of Corporate Traveler USA, per the Dallas Business Journal.
Earlier this year, The Dallas Express reported that business travel was increasing, with small and medium-sized businesses seeking new networks. Corporate travel has become increasingly important for airlines since the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, with a greater focus on business-class customers. Notably, as much as three-quarters of all airline revenue stems from business travelers.
According to Corporate Traveler and FCM Travel, business travel to Dallas between July and September 2024 was up 13% compared to the same period the year prior. This represents the third largest increase among the 20 cities ranked in the report, behind only Charlotte, North Carolina, at 18% and Atlanta, Georgia, at 15%.
“The city’s vibrant and diverse business community is truly evident by the recent mix of travelers we’ve seen coming to Dallas from different industries all throughout the country… Throughout the year, Dallas has continued to strengthen its business travel appeal, especially with traveler confidence on the rise and more and more travelers embracing the return of the road. And going forward, I believe there are even more opportunities for growth within the city that I think will drive even more demand for travel to Dallas in the years to come,” said Van den Heuvel.
The report also highlighted the bump in business travel when the Mavericks and Stars entered the playoffs this year. At the time, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport saw a 15% jump in flights booked by business travelers.
