The CEO of Dallas-based mechanical construction and facilities services company TDIndustries is stepping down at the end of the year.

Harold MacDowell, who has served as the CEO for over two decades, is retiring after 38 years with the company, according to a press release.

During his tenure as CEO, TD more than tripled in size, according to company Board Chairman Paul Minton, per the release.

In 2017, Inc. magazine rated MacDowell as the No.7 CEO in the world.

In 2021, the company pulled in $667 million in revenue, making it one of the largest private companies in North Texas, according to the Dallas Business Journal.

TDIndustries is one of the largest employers in North Texas, with a headcount of 1,500, per the DBJ.

The company has worked on several high-profile design-build efforts, including the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, Atlanta Falcons’ Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Field, and Dallas Mavericks’ American Airlines Center, according to Dallas Innovates.

Thanks to Harold’s 38 years of service, including assignments in various areas of TD’s business, such as engineering, construction, special projects, service and facilities management, TD’s scale has more than tripled under his leadership,” Minton said in the press release.

“This has not only strengthened TD’s culture of excellence but also positioned TD for continued success in the years ahead. On behalf of the Board, we express our heartfelt appreciation.”

MacDowell was the third CEO in the company’s history. The business was founded in Dallas in 1946 by Jack Lowe Sr., who served as the first CEO, followed by his son Jack Lowe Jr.

“I am honored to have led TDIndustries as its CEO for nearly two decades. Given the strength of our people, culture and values, TD is well-positioned to grow and thrive in the years ahead,” said MacDowell.

The company is currently looking for a CEO to replace MacDowell, and he will remain on as CEO until an appointment is made, the press release said.
