Buc-ee’s is set to expand its repertoire of consumer offerings with the introduction of new, on-site carwash tunnels.

The private, Texas-based country store and gas station chain will construct $6 million, 5,647-square-foot car wash tunnels at its Fort Worth, Royse City, and Terrell locations, state records show. Construction is scheduled to begin on February 1, 2023.

Buc-ee’s already has four operating car wash locations throughout Texas, with more operating sites in the pipeline.

The company submitted plans with the state in August for additional car washes in New Braunfels, Baytown, and Texas City. These locations are expected to have grand openings between late spring and early summer next year.

The Buc-ee’s store in Katy, Texas, holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest car wash, measuring 255 feet in length — about the size of a Giant Sequoia. To date, Buc-ee’s has 43 total U.S. stores, with 34 in Texas.

Since its founding in 1982, Buc-ee’s — popularized for its lavishly clean bathrooms and Beaver Nuggets — has become a must-stop destination for many travelers looking to fuel up, munch down, or shop around.

Everything in Texas is supposed to be bigger, but the largest Buc-ee’s store in the country is not in the Lone Star State. Tennessee holds the title for the largest overall Buc-ee’s location, measuring 74,000 square feet, including the interior shopping space and the outside fuel area.

Texas is not a state to be outshined or outsized, though, and recently broke ground on a planned 75,000-square-foot store in Luling that will take the title from Tennessee as the largest overall Buc-ee’s location. The new facility will feature 120 fueling stations and 60 gas pumps, along with a plethora of food and drink options.

The nearest Buc-ee’s car wash for Dallas residents to visit is the Denton location on Interstate 35E. A complete list of Buc-ee’s locations can be found here.
