Fort Worth Elementary School Students recently received 95 coats from a local coat drive.

The coat drive was operated by the Junior Woman’s Club of Fort Worth and began on September 11. Members of the club donated 95 coats to Harlean Beal Elementary School.

The Junior Woman’s Club was founded in the 1920s to help young women develop different skill sets. The club tries to foster personal development, leadership, and friendship. Women in the club are ages 21-40.

The group’s original goal was only 75 coats, but they managed to surpass it and bring in another 20 coats for children in need this winter.

If you are looking to give a coat away, there are still coat drives going on this fall.

Community Partners of Dallas, a nonprofit that seeks to serve neglected and abused children, is having its annual coat drive.

Its website says, “Coats play an essential role in keeping kids comfortable and healthy. For a child who would otherwise go without, they also enhance their self-esteem by giving them something they can be proud to wear.”

They are looking for new coats that will be donated to abused or neglected children ages 0-17. You can visit the online registry or give a monetary donation here. This year, the Morton H. Myerson Family Foundation is matching every dollar donated up to $7,200.

Coats from the registry can be shipped directly to Community Partners of Dallas. If you want to donate money as a group or company you can contact Community Partners of Dallas to create your own custom fundraising page.

Through this page, you can set up your own donation link to send to your group or company so that they can donate together. For additional information about the drive, email [email protected].
