A teenage candidate for the Round Rock ISD school board has attracted national Democratic endorsements and support from CAIR Action while campaigning to protect Diversity, “Equity,” and Inclusion (DEI) policies, a record examined in a new RAIR Foundation report highlighted by Amy Mek.

Ayaan Moledina is seeking Place 3 on the district’s Board of Trustees in the November 3 election. Mek called him “Texas’s Zohran Mamdani” in a post directing readers to the October 20 report on his political training, affiliations and school policy positions.

National backing and Democratic training

His campaign website lists personal endorsements from U.S. Rep. Greg Casar (D-Texas) and U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland), among other Democratic officials.

Brady PAC also endorsed Moledina, identifying him as a leader in its Team ENOUGH youth initiative. The organization describes a “pipeline” to move its activists into public office and advance restrictions on firearms at every level of government.

A 2025 Texas House resolution records his fellowship in the Travis County Democratic Party’s Watson-Eckhardt-Talarico Campaign Academy, legislative internships and work helping organize a White House youth suicide prevention roundtable.

CAIR Action lists Moledina as endorsed in its voter guide. The organization identifies itself as an affiliate of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Its April 2025 advisory also listed Moledina as a scheduled speaker at a Texas Capitol press conference.

For November 3, the guide recommends 1,169 candidates nationwide, including 613 marked “Endorsed” or “Joint Endorsement.” Texas accounts for 63 of those endorsements, plus 306 “Preferred” choices. Its other Texas endorsements include Alisa Simmons for Tarrant County judge, Salman Bhojani for Texas House District 92 and Brittany Black for House District 61.

Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) designated CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood as foreign terrorist and transnational criminal organizations under Texas law in November 2025, as The Dallas Express previously reported. CAIR disputes the state’s allegations.

DEI, immigration and religion

Moledina’s platform calls for protecting DEI initiatives and expanding identity-based bullying protections. It also supports school safety approaches centered on support and de-escalation.

His campaign says his experiences with bullying, racism and mental health struggles shaped his advocacy. He presents his candidacy as an effort to protect public education and expand student support.

The RAIR report also highlights an “Abolish ICE” message and his opposition to Senate Bill 10, Texas’ classroom Ten Commandments law. It quotes him calling the measure “un-American & unconstitutional.” His campaign platform separately calls for keeping political and religious interference out of classrooms.

Readers can review the full report, including its embedded posts and videos, for a more extensive examination of Moledina’s record.
