Socialist streamer Hasan Piker says state Rep. James Talarico (D-District 50) must remember who put him in power and “play ball” with the left if he wins Texas’ U.S. Senate race.
RNC Research circulated a video of Piker’s remarks September 30.
Hasan Piker says he’ll make sure James Talarico follows his far-Left agenda if he becomes a Senator:
“After James Talarico wins…we have to remind him that…we are the force that allowed him to win this seat of power, and if he wants to maintain it he’s got to play ball.” pic.twitter.com/NjZu6n8LJ5

“After James Talarico wins…we have to remind him that…we are the force that allowed him to win this seat of power, and if he wants to maintain it he’s got to play ball,” Piker said in the clip.
DSA’s agenda and communist ties
The Democratic Socialists of America promoted Piker alongside its organizers for September’s Socialism 2026 conference, where advertised topics included its Workers Deserve More program.
DSA’s agenda extends to changing ownership of major companies and the structure of government, as previously reported by The Dallas Express. Its current program calls for public ownership of the largest corporations, abolishing ICE, ending deportations and granting amnesty regardless of immigration status.
It also seeks to abolish the police and prison system, eliminate the Senate and Electoral College, and end military and economic aid to Israel.
Red Star, one of DSA’s factions, identifies itself as a Marxist-Leninist caucus whose goal is “to abolish capitalism and, ultimately, to achieve communism.” It advocates overthrowing capitalism rather than reforming it.
Cuba’s ruling Communist Party hosted DSA’s October 2023 delegation, participant Maria Franzblau wrote. Her account also criticized Cuba’s repression of independent political organizing.
Talarico’s record on capitalism
The question of dismantling capitalism also appears in Talarico’s record. At a September 2020 Austin Sierra Club forum, he linked capitalism, white supremacy and climate change, footage aired by CNN shows.
“I’m so thankful that you asked this question and also thankful that young activists have really drawn the link between climate change and white supremacy and capitalism in our country. And I think only in the ways that all three of those oppressive systems work together are we going to be able to begin the process of dismantling them.”
His campaign described him as a “proud capitalist” and said his earlier language missed the mark in its response to CNN last month, the network reported.
