A Smith County woman faces a criminal charge after investigators accused her of repeatedly taking a child to a Tyler physician for sexual abuse in exchange for prescription drugs, including Adderall, KLTV reported.

Authorities arrested Alicia Evonne Sanchez, 37, also known as Alicia Evonne Seguin, on Wednesday. She faces a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child. CBS19 reported Thursday that she remained in the Smith County Jail on a $3 million bond.

Alleged abuse at medical appointments

The child described abuse by former physician Kenneth Donald Haygood between the ages of 7 and 13 and disclosed it in April, CBS19 reported, citing an arrest affidavit.

Sanchez allegedly took the child to Haygood’s office several times a month. Medical records documented 10 examinations, investigators wrote in the affidavit, CBS19 reported.

The child told investigators that Sanchez stayed in the room during the alleged abuse, held the child’s arm during some encounters and failed to intervene when the child cried. Sanchez allegedly characterized Haygood’s actions as normal medical care.

Prescription drug allegations

Haygood diagnosed the child with ADHD and prescribed Adderall, but Sanchez rarely gave the medication to the child, according to CBS19’s account of the affidavit.

The child recalled Sanchez putting the pills into baggies and saying she sold them to people who could not obtain the medication because of a shortage. Investigators allege Sanchez obtained prescription drugs for her own use or to sell by allowing the abuse, CBS19 reported.

Haygood’s prior conviction

Haygood pleaded guilty to two sexual assault charges on September 19, 2025. A judge imposed concurrent eight-year prison sentences, and the plea agreement resulted in the dismissal of other charges, KLTV reported.

The Texas Medical Board temporarily suspended his license on October 24, 2023, after a panel found he violated a June 2023 order prohibiting him from seeing and treating female patients.

The allegations against Sanchez remain unproven. She retains the presumption of innocence unless a court finds her guilty.
