A 42-year-old Waxahachie mother faces two counts of capital murder in the fatal shootings of her two sons Thursday morning, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded at about 4:13 a.m. on October 1 to a 911 call reporting an emergency in the 900 block of Big Sky Drive in Waxahachie. They found two victims inside the residence with gunshot wounds.
Christopher Scott Pitre, 21, of Waxahachie, died at the scene, authorities said.
The second victim, a 15-year-old boy, arrived at a local hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries. Authorities have not released his identity.
Mother arrested in shooting
Deputies found the victims’ mother, Colleen Nichole Lemmon, 42, injured at the residence. She received treatment at a local hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Investigators developed probable cause indicating Lemmon allegedly shot both victims, the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities booked Lemmon into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center on two counts of capital murder after her release from the hospital. She awaited arraignment and a bond determination at the time of the sheriff’s office statement.
Sheriff offers condolences
Authorities notified the victims’ father of both deaths, the sheriff’s office said.
“My deepest sympathies go out to the victims’ father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident,” Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman said in a statement. “They will remain in our prayers during this difficult time.”
