Gateway Church in Prosper evacuated its campus Sunday morning after receiving a threatening phone call.
Police issued an “all-clear” following a thorough floor-by-floor search that confirmed the threat amounted to a “swatting” hoax. No injuries occurred, and authorities found no hazards in the facility.
Prosper and McKinney police swept the entire site and established a heavy perimeter after an unknown individual directed threatening statements at the church. Prosper police and fire crews led the response with assistance from the McKinney Police Department.
“While a law enforcement investigation continues, police believe there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time,” the Prosper Police Department said in a statement.
The caller’s identity remains unknown as the probe into the false report persists. Prosper officials thanked the McKinney Police Department and Gateway Church security team for their help during the sweep.
The department does not plan to release more details while the investigation into the call’s origin continues.
