The Garland Police Department reports still being uncertain of the current location of 14-year-old Abel Elias Acosta, suspect in December’s Garland gas station shooting; however, an ardent search for Acosta continues.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Acosta is accused of shooting four teenagers on December 26, 2021, leaving three of them dead and one injured.

The shooting occurred within the 700 block of West Walnut Street, near downtown Garland.

Authorities identified the teenaged victims as 14-year-old Xavier Gonzalez, 16-year-old Ivan Noyala, and 17-year-old Rafael Garcia.

Fifteen-year-old David Humberto was the only survivor of the shooting.

Acosta fled the scene in a vehicle driven by his father, 33-year-old Richard Acosta Jr.

Although Acosta Jr. surrendered to Garland Police after seeing himself on the news, his son is still on the run.

Over a month since the shooting, Garland Police have conceded that they are stagnated in their search.

Per reporting from CBSDFW, Garland Police Lt. Pedro Barineau offered this status report regarding the capture of Acosta: “We don’t have any solid location–whether he’s still in-country or out of the country. We’re working with the U.S. Marshal service because they’re the experts when it comes to tracking down a fugitive.”
