Dallas-based Urban Logistics Realty has broken ground on a speculative business park in Mesquite, according to a report by The Dallas Morning News.

The two-building project known as the Alcott Logistics Station is under construction at the southwest corner of East Scyene Road and Faithon P. Lucas Sr. Blvd., near Mesquite’s airport.

Per The Dallas Morning News, co-owner and managing partner at Urban Logistics Realty, Jason Nunley, said that the company is excited about the development.

“With the success of our Urban District 30 development, it made total sense to partner with the city of Mesquite to activate this site in such a dynamic location,” Nunley stated.

The project was named after A.R. Alcott, one of the founders of the City of Mesquite. “We thought it was a great symbol of the growth that continues to occur,” Nunley explained.

The $130 million project is expected to open in November, providing jobs for more than 1,600 workers.

Upon completion, the industrial park will be leased to John Hendricks, Kacy Jones, and Trevor Atkins of CBRE Group.

The project is the second such development for Urban Logistics Realty in Mesquite. The company’s first Mesquite project, Urban District 30, was completed in early 2021. It was purchased by New York-based investor KKR.

East Dallas has experienced a rise in the construction of industrial buildings, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Multiple new projects have been unveiled in Dallas, Mesquite, Forney, and other nearby areas.
