Frisco Police Comment On UTD Student Arrested In Terroristic Threat, Arson Case

Frisco police say a December arrest tied to alleged threats and an attempted arson stemmed from a mental health call and that there is no ongoing danger to the public.

Frisco Police Department officials said officers were dispatched on December 21, 2025, to a residence following a reported mental health concern and later developed probable cause to arrest a 22-year-old man, according to a statement provided by the department.

In an email response to questions on December 24, Frisco Police Sgt. Ryan Thomas said, “On December 21, 2025, Frisco Police officers were dispatched to a residence within the city regarding a reported mental health concern. During the initial investigation, officers developed probable cause to arrest a 22-year-old male for making threats to harm family members within the household.”

The statement continued that officers were also provided information suggesting the individual had attempted to set the home on fire several days earlier. According to Thomas, Frisco Fire Department arson investigators were notified, and an arrest warrant was later obtained.

“The individual has been taken into custody in connection with both incidents,” the statement said, adding that the case remains under investigation and that “at this time, there is no threat to the public or to any houses of worship.”

The police statement follows the arrest of Manojh Sai Lella, a 22-year-old University of Texas at Dallas student, who was taken into custody on December 22 in Collin County, according to jail and court records reported by The Dallas Express. Lella faces a first-degree felony charge of arson with intent to damage a habitat or place of worship and a Class A misdemeanor charge of making a terroristic threat against a family or household member, records show.

The arson charge carries a $100,000 bond, while the misdemeanor charge carries a $3,500 bond, according to the jail listing. As of December 26, Collin County’s inmate search does not indicate that Lella has been released.

Court and jail records list the Frisco Police Department as both the issuing authority and arresting agency in the case. Investigators have not publicly identified the specific place of worship referenced in the arson charge or released additional details about the alleged incident.

Lella is listed on LinkedIn as a senior at the University of Texas at Dallas pursuing a degree in Information Technology, according to a profile reviewed by DX. No public social media posts related to the incident were visible at the time of publication.

Police emphasized that the investigation is ongoing. The allegations outlined in the charging documents have not been proven in court. No court disposition has been entered, and records do not yet list an attorney representing Lella.

The Dallas Express previously reported on details of the arrest and charges.
