Sprouts Farmers Market is opening a new location at the Gateway Plaza development in Bedford.
The grocery store will join the evolving development located at the northwest corner of Industrial Boulevard and Airport Freeway. So far, no other tenants of the complex have been announced.
“Sprouts Farmers Market is coming to Bedford! We’re thrilled to officially announce the future 22,435-square-foot store will be the cornerstone of the future Gateway Plaza (Campus West property) development,” read a post on social media platform X from the City of Bedford.
At full build-out, the nearly 19-acre development will include an 18,000-square-foot plaza, 100 townhomes, and two 10,500-square-foot buildings that will house retail and dining options.
Earlier this year, The Dallas Express reported on another announced Sprouts planned for North Texas. A location was slated to open in Providence Village at University Drive and Main Street in October of this year. The store is similarly sized to the Bedford location at around 23,000 square feet.
Dallas-based Dickerson Development Company and StreetLevel Investments are managing the development of the residential and commercial components of the Bedford project.
The City of Bedford previously owned the property after purchasing it for $9.5 million in December 2021 from Cross City Church (formerly First Baptist Church of Euless). The acquisition was made so the city could be involved in the future direction of the site. In June 2024, the property changed hands again when it was sold to developers.
Bedford will generate tax revenue from the site, estimated to be around $680,000 per year, now that it has lost its previous tax-exempt status as a church property.
Sprouts Farmers Market trades on the NASDAQ under the ticker SFM. Since the beginning of the year, the grocer’s shares have surged over 180%.
The supermarket chain has seen substantial growth in recent years. In 2023, the company opened 30 new stores nationwide, with plans for another 35 by the end of 2024.
