The ball is now in Vice President Kamala Harris’ court as to whether she will face former President Donald Trump in a presidential debate hosted by Fox News.
Trump has accepted the terms proposed by Fox News for the debate format, which would be held in early September in Pennsylvania in front of a live studio audience. Harris has yet to agree to the terms of the debate.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Trump emerged triumphant from his last debate in late June, during which President Joe Biden struggled to deliver coherent statements and convince the American public that he was not suffering from serious cognitive decline.
“Trump won, of course. Biden was ridiculous,” Republican Texas House District 62 nominee Shelley Luther told DX the night of the debate. “Biden has no business being up there. Putting him up there like that should be criminal.”
What followed was a humiliating bullying campaign that successfully coerced Biden into ending his re-election bid. The 81-year-old commander-in-chief endorsed Harris, who was quickly anointed by Democratic Party bigwigs looking to cobble together some semblance of unity going into the Democratic National Convention.
Here’s some of what Fox News reported on the possible debate next month:
Former President Trump announced Friday night that he has agreed to Fox News’ proposal for a debate against Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump said the debate would be held on Sept. 4 in Pennsylvania, although the location of the event has not yet been determined.
The former president also noted that an ABC News debate previously scheduled against President Biden before he suspended his re-election campaign had been canceled, citing his lawsuit against that network and one of its hosts, George Stephanopoulos.
“I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest.”
The moderators of the debate will be Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.
