A municipal building in Grapevine will undergo nearly $8.7 million in renovations this year — about 14 months after a storm system that produced multiple tornadoes in North Texas damaged the property.

According to a state filing, the work at the Grapevine Service Center is scheduled to begin next month and has an anticipated delivery date of February 2025. The project includes repairs to offices, fleet bays, and crew support spaces.

Grapevine City Council members authorized the purchase in May of a new roof for the Grapevine Service Center on Shady Brook Drive, Community Impact reported. That building, where the city’s environmental services are housed, was one of several damaged in Grapevine on December 13, 2022, when 14 tornadoes moved through the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Others included Grapevine Mills Mall and Sam’s Club, which is scheduled to reopen late this year on State Highway 114, The Dallas Express reported.

An EF-1 hit Grapevine Mills Mall, but it quickly reopened. Twisters ranging from EF-1 to EF-2 touched down in other cities across North Texas, including Decatur and North Richland Hills, knocking out power to thousands of customers, The Dallas Morning News reported. Grapevine officials reported that at least 42 structures, including residences, were impacted by the storm.

BRW Architects of Dallas is listed as the design firm on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. Its work in the government sector includes projects in Anna, Coppell, and Bedford.

A city spokesperson did not immediately return a message from The Dallas Express seeking comment about repairs to the Grapevine Service Center.
