A traffic accident that resulted in a Dallas Area Rapid Transit bus crashing into Copart Tower in North Dallas on Saturday resulted in multiple injuries.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the DART bus careened into the north side of the office building situated at the intersection of Spring Valley Road and the Dallas North Tollway. Video footage and photographs of the incident’s aftermath showed a number of individuals receiving assistance from first responders.

The crash happened on DART Bus Route 200 and involved Bus #39110.

“Initial information suggests that a vehicle turned right on red in front of the DART bus, causing the collision,” said Gordon Shattles, assistant vice president of external relations for DART, in a statement to The Dallas Express.

Dallas has garnered a reputation as one of the most dangerous cities to drive in, at least according to a Forbes ranking.

Three metrics were used to compile the ranking: vehicle-related deaths per 100,000 residents, the average number of years between residents’ collisions, and the relative likelihood of getting into a collision in the ranked cities. Atlanta and Dallas tied for first on the official list of the “Top 50 Cities Where You’re Most Likely to Get in a Car Accident.”

DART police are still investigating Saturday’s incident.

Relatedly, Dallas City Council members recently bemoaned the lack of progress made on a traffic safety initiative designed to reduce the high number of fatalities and injuries on the city’s roadways, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
