A joint cooperation agreement, or JCA, between Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico is set to have ripple effects at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, according to a news release.

Starting in January, Delta, which is based in Atlanta, Georgia, is set to launch a slew of non-stop service from airports across the company to a variety of Mexican destinations, such as Guadalajara (GDL), Tulum (TQO), Cozumel (CZM), Monterrey (MTY), Queretaro (QRO), Mexico City (NLU), Bajio (BJX) and Merida (MID). Some routes are set to be daily, while certain service may be Saturday-only.

The JCA includes a daily route between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Mexico City’s Felipe Ángeles International Airport. The route will be operated by Aeromexico and is set to launch starting on March 21, 2024.

The new agreement impacts another Texas city: McAllen. On Feb. 1, 2024, McAllen Miller International Airport will begin offering daily flights to and from Mexico City.

Delta and Aeromexico are not alone in bringing new routes and partnerships that may help service travelers in Dallas-Fort Worth and across Texas.

Fort Worth-based American Airlines Group Inc. is planning to add daily flights from DFW to Shanghai Pudong International Airport in early 2024, The Dallas Express reported in August. It’s part of a joint U.S.-China agreement to boost the number of flights between the rival countries.

“We are grateful to the Department of Transportation and the State Department for their leadership and support and will continue to work closely with the U.S. government as the market slowly reopens,” Jay Singh, corporate communication specialist at American, said at the time.

More scheduled flights between the two nations are scheduled to begin in January. American already makes four weekly flights between the two airports using a Boeing 777-200. After government officials reached the joint agreement and China has begun lifting pandemic-era travel restrictions, American said it plans to double its service to the country.

Delta operates more than 4,000 flights each day to nearly 300 destinations across the world, according to its website. American operates about 6,500 flights every day to more than 350 destinations globally.
