In a July 25 letter to both U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) claimed that “highly credible whistleblowers” have come forward with allegations of a widespread effort by the FBI to discredit and minimize “derogatory information relating to Hunter Biden.”

Grassley has been on a mission to smoke out what he perceives as political partisanship within the FBI and Department of Justice for months.

On May 31, Grassley sent a letter to Garland and Wray focusing on the activity of Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) Timothy Thibault of the FBI Washington Field Office.

In this role, Thibault had “decision-making over which Federal public corruption matters are opened for investigation,” according to the letter.

Grassley alleged that Thibault “likely violated several federal regulations and Department guidelines designed to prevent political bias from infecting FBI Matters.”

The Republican Senator pointed to numerous social media posts by Thibault that he believes reveal a “pattern of active public partisanship” and a clear disdain for numerous Republican officeholders, including former President Donald Trump, former Vice President Dick Cheney, and Sen. Tommy Tuberville.

Grassley asserted that these “illustrative social media posts call into question ASAC Thibault’s ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of an FBI agent objectively and without bias.”

Within this May 31 correspondence, Grassley also invited current and former government employees to contact his office to confidentially report allegations of fraud, waste, abuse, and gross mismanagement by the FBI and DOJ.

This invitation led to individuals coming forward with the current accusation that the FBI has actively engaged in largescale propaganda tactics to protect the president’s son from damaging information, specifically during critical periods that could impact U.S. elections.

As an example of these allegations, the unnamed whistleblowers claim that in August 2020 — three months before the presidential election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden — FBI Intelligence Analyst Brian Auten assessed the “criminal financial” activity of Hunter Biden. FBI Headquarters allegedly used that assessment to “improperly discredit negative Hunter Biden information as disinformation and caused investigative activity to cease.

“Based on allegations, verified and verifiable derogatory information on Hunter Biden was falsely labeled as disinformation,” Grassley claimed.

Grassley went on to assert that “the allegations provided to [his] office appear to indicate that there was a scheme in place among certain FBI officials to undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.”

The Auten assessment and its elevation by FBI leadership occurred in the same month as Grassley and others in Congress received what he called an “unsolicited and unnecessary” briefing from the FBI that was “purportedly related” to their Hunter Biden investigation.

This FBI briefing was born out of claims by then-Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Sen. Mark Warner, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Rep. Adam Schiff — all Democrats — that the Congressional investigation into Hunter Biden was “the subject of a foreign disinformation campaign.”

The contents of the briefing were later leaked to the press, which Grassley said “provided [their] Democratic colleagues fodder to falsely accuse [them] of advancing foreign disinformation” in the investigation of Hunter Biden.

Grassley believes this briefing was evidence of deception by federal agents, in league with Congressional democrats and the press, on behalf of Hunter Biden and, more importantly, his father and then-Democratic nominee for President, Joe Biden.

“If these allegations are true and accurate, the Justice Department and FBI are – and have been – institutionally corrupted to their very core to the point in which the United States Congress and the American people will have no confidence in the equal application of the law,” chided Grassley.

“You have an obligation to the country to take these allegations seriously, immediately investigate and take steps to institute fixes to these and other matters before you,” concluded Grassley.

Officials from both the FBI and DOJ acknowledged receipt of the letters but declined to comment further, according to CBS News.

The Dallas Express will continue to explore Sen. Grassley’s whistleblower allegations and report as new information becomes available.
