OBITUARY

Margaret Ann Adams

MAY 30, 1925 – JUNE 28, 2021

Margaret Ann Scanlan Adams joined her beloved husband John Sherwood Adams in heaven on Monday, June 28th, 2021. She was also welcomed by her parents, Thomas Patrick and Frances Mae Scanlan, son Robert Paul Adams, grandsons Hayden Sherwood Adams and Christopher Shannon Caffey, granddaughter Alicia Renee Lee and great grandson Travis Borgkvist.

Margaret Ann was born May 30th, 1925, in Texas City, Texas. She attended one year of college as a music major playing piano. Soon after college Margaret moved to Dallas to be closer to her sisters and start her career as a typist. She met her beloved husband on a blind date at a Sacred Heart Singles event at Sacred Heart Cathedral leading to marrying John Sherwood Adams in 1952. They successfully raised ten children in the east Dallas area continuing her career as a homemaker.

They were one of the early member families of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Margaret served in her parish in many ways including; Cub Scout Den Mother, girl scout leader, Ladies Society, Pro-life, Rosary Guild, Room Mother, Over 55 Club, and bible study. She ended her work career by taking over the family business, Kohrs & Norton.

Margaret Ann’s faith in God held the family together. She led by example and was the perfect role model in practicing the Catholic faith. This was illustrated by her daily attendance at mass faithfully reading her daily prayers and praying the rosary. In addition to her church activities, she and her sisters loved spending time traveling around the world and going to South Padre Island. She was in a knitting, quilting, and crocheting club, enjoyed sewing, working on crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.

Margaret Ann wanted to die peacefully at home and God granted her wish with her children alternating visits daily. Margaret Ann is survived by her children; John Adams Jr., James Adams, Cecilia Caffey, Kathleen Adams, Madeleine Coyle, Margaret McKee, Francis Adams, Elizabeth Gaspard, and Judith Mayer. Margaret Ann’s grandchildren; Sean Adams, Meridian Borgkvist, Jacqueline Adams, Eric Adams, Aaron Caffey, Lisa Mokry, Angela Caffey, Kristie Lee, Rebecca Rice, Samantha Willoughby, Jordan Rice, Daniel Rice, Jeramie Broadway, Melissa Green, Warren McKee, Austin McKee, Felicia Vazquez, Margaret Adams, Amy Adams, Jonathan Dressler, Joshua Dressler, Jacob Dressler, and Joseph Dressler. Margaret Ann also had many great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
