Obituary for Ida Jane Bausewine

(Ida) Jane LaPrelle Bausewine passed away peacefully on June 30, 2020 after a wonderful life of nearly ninety-eight years. A native of Dallas Jane was born on December 21, 1923 to parents James Lawson LaPrelle and Florence Harris LaPrelle. She was a graduate of Highland Park High School and SMU where she earned a business degree and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Her affinity for business resurfaced later in life as she loved watching the ticker-tape and keeping track of her investing ideas. She met her husband George Bausewine on a blind date shortly after the war. They married in 1947 after which they lived in Dallas, Philadelphia and Cincinnati. Her residence in Cincinnati was nearly 60 years and is where her children were raised. Jane had a great love for flower gardening, her bridge groups and her many lifelong friends. She loved family trips to new places and traveled frequently to reunite with close friends in particular to Sante Fe, Colorado and Florida. In her later years, she returned to Dallas to rekindle childhood friendships as well as her great love of NFL football, in particular the Cowboys. It was a safe bet that football was on the menu every Monday and Thursday night and all day Sunday. She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, George Bausewine and her grandsons C. Blake Douglas and John C. Douglas. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Douglas of Cincinnati, OH and her children Christopher Douglas (Melanie), Burke, VA and Warren Douglas (Abby) Bellevue, KY and her son George W. Bausewine (Becky) Alexandria, LA and their daughter Katherine Roy (Marty), Lafayette, LA. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, niece Joan LaPrelle Eleazer (Jeff), Dallas and nephews Jim LaPrelle (Jan) Albuquerque, NM and Bob LaPrelle (Kelly), Sherman, TX. There will be a private burial service in McKinney, TX on Tuesday, July 6th after which there will be a reception at 2 p.m. in the 3rd floor dining area of The Plaza, 8502 Edgemere Rd. The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association. The family also thanks the staff at The Plaza and Edgemere for the kind and heart felt care provided our mother over the last ten years.
