The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) says that 1 in 3 Americans are at risk for kidney disease nationwide. Currently, 37 million people have chronic kidney disease. Of those, 660,000 Americans live with kidney failure, while 100,000 are waiting for a kidney transplant.

Those kinds of numbers keep the local chapter of the National Kidney Foundation busy in its Dallas office

To spread information about kidney disease and offer support to those suffering from kidney ailments, the Dallas NKF has three events scheduled.

On Sunday, August 8th, beginning at 1 p.m., the Kidney Patient Social Summit will occur. Registration for this virtual event is underway. The annual event strives to engage, empower, and educate kidney patients and caregivers about kidney disease.

The online event includes discussions and break-out sessions where attendees can share their experiences, network with others, and learn from others.

The NKF Konica Minolta Golf Classic on September 27th at Royal Oaks Country Club may be perfect if you enjoy golfing. The top finishing teams from the benefit tournament are invited to compete in the National Finals held at California’s famous Pebble Beach Resorts.

Families can step out for the annual Lace Up Kidney Walk. The three-mile walk takes place in your neighborhood on Sunday, November 6th. Participants need to register for the event, with proceeds going for kidney disease research, treatment, and care. The goal is to get families and groups throughout Dallas walking for kidney awareness.
