Obituary for Charles Robert Jackson

Charles Robert Jackson of Paris, Texas lost his battle with COVID on May 15, 2021 at the age of

85. Charlie was an amazing man by any standard. An SMU graduate and an all-American football player at SMU, where he still holds the record for longest interception return for touchdown. He was a standout sprinter in college at the Texas Relays. He went on to play professional football for the Chicago Cardinals and the Dallas Texans. He moved back to Dallas and started Jackson Concrete which he built into a successful company with seven plants throughout the DFW Metroplex and was instrumental in the growth and development of North Dallas.

Charlie loved the outdoors and playing golf with his friends and particularly his brother. He was an avid bird hunter, field trial competitor and judge. Charlie’s dogs won multiple Championships and he was inducted into the Bird Dog Hall of Fame.

Most importantly, Charlie was a devoted family man and friend. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings and many friends who held him in the highest regard. He was known for his generosity, integrity and his incredibly unique sense of humor.

His grandchildren, were a big part of his life. He loved attending their activities and spending time with them. They thought “he was the greatest man that ever lived.” Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Linda Beck Jackson, whom he met in high school, his children, Kimberly Lynn Jackson, Charles Robert Jackson, Jr. and his wife, Tiffany Slayton Jackson, Kristin Jackson O’Toole and her husband, Kevin Clayton O’Toole, and his grandchildren, Kathleen O’Toole Arizpe and her husband, Jared Ryan Arizpe, Charles Robert Jackson III (Chase) and Cole Riley Jackson.
