Three Americans were found dead at a Bahamas Sandals Resort last Friday of causes that are unknown as of yet.

“It is with deep sadness that we can confirm the passing of three guests at Sandals Emerald Bay on May 6, 2022,” said Sandals in a statement.

“A health emergency was initially reported and following our protocols we immediately alerted emergency medical professionals and relevant local authorities,” the statement continued. “We are actively working to support both the investigation as well as the guests’ families in every way possible during this difficult time.”

The victims have been identified as Michael and Robbie Phillips, 68 and 65, respectively, of Tennessee, and Vincent Chiarella, 64, of Florida.

Vincent’s wife, Donnis Chiarella, is believed to be in stable condition after being transported to a Miami hospital over the weekend.

The couples stayed at the Sandals Emerald Bay resort on Great Exuma Island.

Investigators are working around the clock to determine the cause of death for each person.

Bahamas Commissioner of Police Paul Rolle stated at a news conference that blood samples were gathered from the victims and will be submitted to a laboratory in the United States to establish the causes of death. The results of the autopsies are pending.

Tourism Minister Chester Cooper recently told The U.S. Sun that “foul play isn’t suspected.”

On May 6, a staff member discovered a man unresponsive on the ground inside one of the villas at the resort. He was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.

Then, in another villa, police officers discovered an unresponsive man slumped against the bathroom wall, and a woman was found unresponsive in the bedroom.

The victims displayed signs of “convulsion,” according to police.

According to local authorities, the three individuals had sought medical attention earlier because they were feeling ill.

A day before the three bodies were found, Robbie Phillips posted to Facebook about the trip.

“If you want the most beautiful long private beach with clear blue water and you like to hear the waves lapping, see sand dunes and hear the seagulls talking — this is it!” she said.

Robbie and her husband Michel were co-owners of a travel business called The Sandy Lady from Royal Travel.
