A Texas woman shot and killed a burglar who entered her San Antonio home while her three children were sleeping. Authorities say she will not face charges.

Around 10 p.m. on April 29, the unidentified woman heard the man breaking into the back of the residence through the laundry room. The female shot at the suspect, hitting 41-year-old Roman Rodriguez in the chest twice.

When officers arrived at the home, Rodriguez was discovered suffering from his wounds in the backyard, sitting in a chair. He died en route to the hospital.

The mother and her children were not injured.

The shooting is still under investigation, but no charges have been filed due to the Castle Doctrine, which authorizes a person to use lethal force against an intruder who breaks into their home.
