Police arrested a University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) professor after finding hundreds of child sexual abuse images and videos on his electronic devices, according to reports.

Officers charged 49-year-old Paul William Leafgreen in Tarrant County with possession of child pornography involving minors under 18 engaged in sexual acts, according to Fox 4.

Leafgreen, a math lecturer at UTA, was placed on administrative leave by UTA and is currently out on bond as of October 3. His next court date is set for April 10, 2026.

Police said investigators monitored an online network known for sharing child pornography in April of this year. They traced a download of illegal material to an IP address registered to Leafgreen.

Officers searched Leafgreen’s home on August 6, and seized multiple electronic devices.

During questioning, Leafgreen allegedly admitted possessing material showing minors as young as five years old but denied sexual attraction to children.

Investigators found 354 images and 52 videos of child sexual abuse material on Leafgreen’s laptop. Forensic analysis showed he used additional file-sharing apps to obtain and distribute the material.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, this case follows similar incidents involving North Texas educators. Earlier this year, former Lewisville ISD teacher Alainee Simonson was arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child and engaging in an improper relationship with a student, according to Grapevine Police.

Simonson, 29, was arrested on December 13 after a months-long investigation into alleged incidents from 2022 to 2023 while she taught at Killough High School, reported Fox 4.
