Tarrant County leaders highlighted accomplishments and ongoing initiatives during the 2025 State of the County event.

“After an incredible State of the County event today, I am more convinced than ever that Tarrant County is the best place to live in America. I took a few minutes to emphasize how a business-minded approach to government improves economic development,” County Judge Tim O’Hare wrote in an August 21 Facebook post.

“Then we mixed things up a bit and I interviewed Sheriff Bill Waybourn, District Attorney Phil Sorrells, and County Clerk Mary Louise Nicholson on a panel. Our conversation reinforced the fact that Tarrant County is a place with low taxes, safe streets, and a government that prioritizes efficiency. Thank you to the Fort Worth Chamber and our panel for a great event!” O’Hare continued.

Sheriff Waybourn highlighted progress in Tarrant County, particularly improvements at the county jail. Additionally, Waybourn said he will continue efforts to combat human trafficking.

“We are going to follow that law, we are going to enforce the law. If you are a human trafficker, we are coming after you — we got your number. And if you are coming to hurt our people, we are coming after you, and we will be quite fast,” Waybourn said.

O’Hare also addressed job growth in the county during his tenure as judge. He credited businesses for creating those opportunities.

“You’ll never hear me say ‘government created these jobs.’ No, businesses create jobs,” O’Hare said.

“My goal from day one was to create a culture in Tarrant County focused on government efficiency, responsible spending, and reducing waste. And that’s exactly what we’ve done,” O’Hare previously told DX.
