A number of Republican officials and activists in Tarrant County are reacting to President Joe Biden’s announcement that he will be ending his reelection campaign.
“I have been saying since the debate, this was all a set up. What we are witnessing now is a war between the Obama and Clinton factions of the party,” Tarrant County Republican Party Chair Bo French told DX.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Biden announced his withdrawal from the race Sunday afternoon and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s nominee. Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joined Biden in endorsing Harris. Former President Barack Obama, notably, did not when lauding Biden’s legacy in the minutes after the announcement.
“It doesn’t matter what communist inspired loser they select to represent them, the American people will overwhelmingly vote for Donald Trump,” he added.
Rosalie Escobedo, the Tarrant County director of Citizens Defending Freedom, shared French’s perspective, arguing that Democrats and legacy media figures have been downplaying the issue of Biden’s capacity to serve as president.
“Biden’s cognitive and physical decline are critical components that could no longer be ignored. Left-leaning media outlets have been complicit in this scheme, anticipating and even promoting a candidate switch, especially after Biden’s disastrous performance in the Trump/Biden debate,” Escobedo said in a statement to DX.
The president’s apparent cognitive decline only really became headline news following the now-infamous presidential debate last month. A growing chorus of voices in the Democratic Party and legacy media calling on him to drop out of the race quickly followed.
“Despite Vice President Kamala Harris’s abysmal approval ratings, the Biden administration is pushing her forward as a replacement. This calculated move serves two purposes: preserving the current campaign funding structure and pandering to a crucial Democratic voting bloc – black women, who they cannot win without. Polling shows that this voting bloc overwhelming approves of Kamala Harris for President. This maneuver exposes the Democratic Party’s willingness to prioritize political strategy over voter preferences,” Escobedo said.
For his part, Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare tweeted:
“Joe Biden drops out of the race, disenfranchising millions of voters. Then he endorses his ‘Border Czar,’ who couldn’t have done worse if she’d tried to. The Democrat Party is in chaos. Their leaders are completely dishonest and can’t be trusted to run a snow cone stand.”
