Tarrant Appraisal District is moving to finally replace its troubled software system, voting to pursue a deal with the company True Prodigy.

At a meeting on September 9, TAD board members unanimously voted to authorize the chief appraiser to negotiate and enter into a contract with True Prodigy. The cost to taxpayers will be no more than $10 million over the span of five years, according to Fort Worth Report.

“Prodigy Appraisal is a comprehensive mass appraisal software application that is being developed from the ground up using the latest advancements in computer software technology. The product includes all software modules expected for the operation of a Texas Appraisal District,” True Prodigy’s website states.

The company offers a property maintenance module, appraisal module, appeals module, prodigy economic units module, prodigy BI module, prodigy admin module, and prodigy appraisal admin module.

“Our web portals include an owner portal, agent portal, taxing unit portals, arbitration and litigation portals. Our owner portal includes the ability to submit electronic exemption applications, account maintenance such as address corrections and name changes with supporting evidence, electronic protest filing, electronic renditions, communications center, and the ability to manage their properties for a complete view of their property portfolio,” True Prodigy website states.

The system will replace the one contracted from Aumentum Technologies, which TAD officials blame for millions of dollars in taxable property being left off the tax rolls, reported Fort Worth Report.

Chief Appraiser Joe Bobbitt appeared to express some confidence in True Prodigy’s package.

“We don’t want to be the only one on the system, and we don’t want to be a beta. So we feel that True Prodigy is the safest bet with the number of clients they have,” Bobbitt said, per Fort Worth Report.
