A passenger was critically injured early Sunday after a crash involving a Fort Worth police vehicle on Camp Bowie Boulevard.
The crash happened around 4:15 a.m. in the 6500 block of Camp Bowie Boulevard, according to FOX 4, citing Fort Worth police.
Investigators said a black Chevrolet Malibu was traveling west when the driver attempted to turn left on a flashing yellow arrow toward the 3400 block of Clayton Road. As the Malibu turned, a black Ford Explorer traveling east struck the passenger side of the vehicle.
Police identified the Ford Explorer driver as a Fort Worth police officer.
First responders performed CPR at the scene before the Malibu passenger was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Authorities have not said whether the officer was on duty or whether the vehicle’s emergency lights or sirens were activated at the time of the crash. The officer’s injury status was also not released.
The intersection remained closed for several hours Sunday morning while the Fort Worth Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit processed the scene.
A major accident investigation is underway.
