Communities in Schools, a non-profit, will unveil its new $5.5 million headquarters facility in Tarrant County.

“Communities In Schools is the state’s leading organization providing wraparound student supports and dropout prevention using an evidence-based model that places a site coordinator inside the schools to assess needs, build trusting relationships with students, and connect students and their families with needed resources. CIS Georgia is part of a national organization committed to surrounding students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life,” the Communities in Schools website states.

Communities In Schools of Greater Tarrant County’s Center for Student Support (CISGTC) has secured $3.2 million in donations from organizations such as the Amon G. Carter Foundation, the Morris Foundation, and the Ryan Foundation, reported Fort Worth Report.

The center is scheduled to open in the fall of 2025 and will provide mental health counseling and a fresh food pantry in collaboration with Texas Health Resources, FWR notes.

Lindsey Garner, president and CEO of GISGTC, thanked the organizations.

“We asked local school districts what they see as the most pressing challenges in the coming years,” Garner said. “All this feedback manifested in the planning for the future.”

“People asked us if we build it, will the families come? Not only did they come, but they came from Fort Worth ISD, Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, Granbury ISD, Everman ISD and even Lake Worth and White Settlement ISDs. The need is there,” added Garner.

The organization grew from serving just 200 students in Fort Worth schools to more than 40,000 across the 84 schools, which are located in 12 school districts.
