Isaac Rudolph, a Fort Worth resident and parent, shared his reaction to visiting a current exhibit at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the museum in Fort Worth is receiving backlash from the community after reports revealed that its current collection features pictures of naked children.
“I recently took my family to the Fort Worth Modern Art Museum. As we made our way through the exhibitions, we came to the Diaries of a Home exhibit. Using my intuition and a father’s discretion I encouraged my wife to continue on in the museum while I quickly scanned through the exhibit. As an artist myself, I’m intrigued to see art through the artist’s eyes. Everyone has a story to tell, and art is a powerful avenue of expression,” Rudolph told The Dallas Express.
“But I was appalled that a public place meant to draw an inclusive audience would display imagery of naked children. An overt violation of inherent morality. Why would an art museum willingly offer the naked bodies of children to be viewed by the public? As parents of two small children, we do everything in our ability to preserve their sacred innocence. We’ve chosen to raise our family in this town because of the conservative cultural values relating to family and the common endeavor to shield the most vulnerable from those who seek to violate and harm them,” Rudolph said.
“I’m left with so many questions. Why did someone photograph children in a nude state for the purpose of public display? Was it the child’s mother photographing? Did the child give the consent? How could the child have even understood consent for this?
“Who curated this exhibit? Are there laws forbidding the use of images of naked children for public display? Has anyone else been gravely disturbed that another parent’s child is being viewed naked for anyone to look at? What’s to keep a pedophile from using these images to gratify his/her perversion?” Rudolph said.
Rudolph is now asking residents in Fort Worth to take action.
“Will you please take action to protect the most vulnerable among us and defend their innocence?” Rudolph asked.
The Dallas Express contacted the Modern Art Museum’s Manager of Strategic Marketing and Visitor Services, Dustin Van Orne, and Director of Communications, Kendal Smith Lake, for comment. However, the DX did not receive a response.
