Fort Worth residents have slammed progressive councilwoman Elizabeth Beck for her alleged abusive behavior towards two Fort Worth ISD Young Women Leadership Academy coaches.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, two FWISD Coaches, Carley Long and Athletic Coordinator Akua P. Twumasi, have accused Beck of abuse, targeting their jobs, insults, and bullying.
Long wrote in the letter sent to Mayor Parker that Beck called her a “White skinny dumb bitch.”
Athletic Coordinator Akua P. Twumasi also acknowledged being threatened by Beck in a separate letter and wrote that she has seen how Beck has treated Coach Long.
The letters have garnered community criticism.
“No matter where you stand politically, there are some standards of decency we all expect — and Elizabeth Beck’s behavior has sadly fallen short. It’s disappointing to see someone in her position treating others poorly and setting an example that’s not in line with what Fort Worth is about. The way she treats teachers and police is appalling to say the very least!” Fort Worth resident Lisa Randolph wrote on Facebook.
“She is an embarrassment to our city!!!,” Fort Worth resident Stephanie Perdue wrote in another Facebook comment.
“This is disgusting Elizabeth Beck.: I have been saying this for years she is rude and out of line..,” Fort Worth resident Stephanie Roehm wrote on the platform.
Citizens from Beck’s council district also slammed her behavior.
“Ms. Elizabeth Beck is my city council member & I am truly disgusted that she would treat our public school teachers & coaches the way she has. FWISD is already struggling to attract good talent & her behavior just makes this challenge even more difficult. The staff at her daughter’s high school are living in fear due to the councilwoman’s threats, this is unacceptable,” Fort Worth resident Hollie Plemons told The Dallas Express.
“I’m calling on Mayor Mattie Parker to publicly state that Ms. Beck should resign immediately. We need the head of our city to stand up against this behavior to signal to all elected officials that she will not tolerate this in our beloved city of Fort Worth,” Plemons said.
The Dallas Express reached out to Councilwoman Elizabeth Beck’s office but did not receive a response.
