The Fort Worth Police Department is adjusting its patrol beats starting Saturday.

Fort Worth police will adopt new patrol boundaries in some parts of the city starting August 9, according to a press release. The department does this “regularly” as the population grows.

Some beats will change very little, while others will increase or decrease according to the population. For some, they will have a different patrol division or Neighborhood Patrol Officer.

“In far Northwest Fort Worth, where new homes and apartments are being added daily, a few beats will change significantly, and new beats will be added,” the release reads.

The department pointed to Nextdoor and Facebook, where officials will plan gatherings for residents to meet their new Neighborhood Patrol Officers.

Residents can find their Neighborhood Patrol Officer’s name and phone number through the city’s online portal – by typing in their address, searching it, and clicking “+” by “neighborhoods.”

Former Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia stands a strong chance of becoming Fort Worth’s next chief, as The Dallas Express exclusively reported. After Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes announced he was stepping down, the department began its search for a new chief in May.

Fort Worth recently proposed an $840 million bond for roads, parks, and public safety, as The Dallas Express also reported. As of June, downtown Dallas’ crime rate outpaced downtown Fort Worth by 5 to 1.

The Dallas Express reached out to the Fort Worth Police Department. A representative said he was working on the request, but did not reply in time for publication. This article will be updated accordingly.
