A Fort Worth Democrat has announced that she is leaving the country due to Trump’s landslide victory.
Jana Lynne Sanchez (D) ran for the U.S. House Texas District 6 seat following Congressman Ronald Wright’s (R) death, losing in a special general election in 2021, according to Ballotpedia.
In 2018, Sanchez initially lost her bid for this role to Wright in the general election.
With President-elect Donald Trump securing a victory, Sanchez has decided to quit America and head for Holland and Spain.
“I personally have lost faith in the democratic process for sorting out the issues. The main reason being the movement of younger people and people of color towards Trump in an election when the economy was great,” Sanchez told WFAA.
The 2024 election results showed that Trump won a large percentage of minority groups, such as 46% of Latino voters nationwide. The results showed a setback for Democrats across the country, reported WFAA.
Sanchez says that she has no regrets about her decision.
“The voters have really gone down a very dark path in which they celebrate the rounding up and deportation of immigrants who, by the way, we need desperately for our labor system,” Sanchez said, per WFAA. “So, I don’t feel good about my fellow Americans right now.”
