A woman from Grand Prairie was arrested during what police described as a routine traffic stop. She was later transferred to Tarrant County custody on a charge of child sexual assault.

According to the Grand Prairie Police, Juana Vasquez Alvarado was taken into custody at 11:55 PM on February 20 in the 3600 block of S. Belt Line Road for a traffic violation. A public information officer from the Grand Prairie Police Department informed The Dallas Express that she was stopped for driving without insurance, later adding, “Just a traffic stop with a warrant arrest.”

Vasquez Alvarado was subsequently transferred into the custody of the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office on February 21, according to an email from the sheriff’s department PIO.

Jail records from Tarrant County list Vasquez Alvarado as facing one count of Sexual Assault of a Child. The inmate database shows she is currently held at the Tarrant County Corrections Center.

Online jail records further indicate the charge is tied to a warrant identified as No. 187979801010, with a listed bond amount of $100,000. The commitment authority is listed as HARRIS CO SO. Tarrant County Criminal Court records reviewed by The Dallas Express do not reflect an active case at the time of publication.

Harris County Criminal Court’s website returned an error message. The Harris County Sheriff’s PIO did not immediately return a request for comment.

Authorities have not publicly released further details about the alleged offense, including when or where it is alleged to have occurred.

The suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

This report is part of The Dallas Express’ ongoing Dirty Jane series, which documents recent arrests of women in North Texas accused of serious sexual offenses, with particular weight given to allegations involving children.
