Fort Worth ISD’s Interim Superintendent, Karen Molinar, has admitted that the district has failed its schools after a contract lapse left several campuses without functional printers and copiers.
Fort Worth ISD school board trustees expressed frustration over the technology department’s handling of the situation at the November 12 board meeting, according to the Fort Worth Report.
“We were like the running joke on social media,” trustee Wallace Bridges said. “That’s how embarrassing it was.”
“Failing one classroom is a 100% fail,” trustee Tobi Jackson added.
The district has obtained several contracts providing short-term and long-term solutions by extending the existing copier leases with Xerox. Molinar has been authorized to negotiate and enter a new print services contract with Novatech, reported FWR.
This is not the only time the school district has recently been scrutinized.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Superintendent Angelica Ramsey resigned amid public criticism in September.
“We have been telling you over and over what needs to change, yet you’ve ignored us,” FWISD teacher Meghan Breedlove said during public comment. “Instead of requiring students to behave appropriately and work hard so that top-notch instruction can take place, you provide scripted lessons to tell us exactly what to say.”
