After Tarrant County GOP Chairman Bo French announced on Saturday that he would not seek reelection, two candidates have stepped forward to replace him, including longtime Republican attorney Tim Davis.
Davis, a partner at Jackson Walker LLP, has been deeply involved in GOP politics for years, previously serving as general counsel for the Tarrant County Republican Party. He is well known in legal and political circles for representing government entities, commercial businesses, and religious organizations.
“Tim Davis is a trial and appellate attorney with experience handling a broad spectrum of matters. A significant portion of his practice concentrates on the representation of commercial businesses, government and political entities, and churches and religious nonprofits. Tim also serves on the Board of Managers of the JPS Health Network, Tarrant County’s public healthcare system,” the Jackson Walker website states.
Davis has long ties to the Republican Party as a donor, former precinct chair, state delegate, and an elector for President Donald Trump in 2024.
“I’m running for chair because our country and our county are too important to take for granted,” Davis told The Dallas Express. “Every day, I think about the world my two boys will grow up in. The county party is the first—and sometimes last—line of defense for electing candidates that will ensure our prosperity, freedom, and security for years to come.”
He added that his experience gives him a strong foundation to lead the county party effectively.
“The position can be a lot of work, but I’m ready for the challenges,” Davis said. “I was general counsel to the party for several years, through several primary election cycles. I worked with that team to ensure a smooth primary. But I’ve also done the grassroots work of door-knocking and fundraising for candidate victories. I’m probably most proud of my vote in the Electoral College last year for President Trump and Vice President Vance.”
Davis has already received endorsements from several prominent conservative leaders in Tarrant County, including County Judge Tim O’Hare, Sheriff Bill Waybourn, current Chairman Bo French, and former Chairman and current Tax Assessor-Collector Rick Barnes.
Davis will face engineer Shellie Gardner in the coming weeks as the Tarrant County GOP prepares to elect its next chair.
