According to Tarrant County court documents, a family court judge is being accused of threatening a family court attorney.

In a motion to recuse and motion for continuance, Johnson Atoe filed a motion to recuse due to the follow allegations.

“On or about April 3, 2024, Judge Poulos stated during the hearing and in the middle of arguments of counsel citing that she heard ‘Mr. Hsu does not practice family law.’ Judge Poulos then openly disregarded Mr. Hsu and proceeded to speak with only his co-counsel in open obstinance to Mr. Hsu’s presence and his announcement as counsel of record,” the document read.

The court document claims that in an open court in May 6, Poulos was allegedly heard saying that, “it is best that Mr. Hsu does not
come to the [family] courthouse for a while.”

“Once again on May 15, 2024, in conference with Mr. Hsu regarding this potential motion to recuse, Judges  reiterated that it was an ‘insult to family judges’ that someone Iike Mr. Hsu would run for judge of any family court,” the document stated.

Anlee Hsu ran for the 360th Family District Court republican primary this past March against incumbent Judge Patricia Baca Bennett, but ultimately lost the primary, according to Ballotpedia.

“Therefore, in light of these considerations, Movant respectfully requests the recusal of Judge Poulos and the 324th Judicial District Court of Tarrant County, Texas, from presiding over this case. We believe that such a step is necessary to ensure the preservation of the appearance of impartiality and to uphold the integrity of the judicial process,” the document states.

The next court date for this case will be on Nov. 25 at 1:00 P.M.
