Arlington City Councilmember Bowie Hogg criticized Mayor Jim Ross after The Dallas Express resurfaced 2018 footage showing Ross making vulgar and explicit remarks toward a Christian street preacher.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the video shows Ross using offensive language, including statements such as: “You don’t think anal sex is good, do you? Have you ever f*cked your old lady in the *ss? I f*cked your old lady in the *ss.”
“Like many Arlington families who have seen the video, I’m concerned by the language and tone attributed to our mayor,” Hogg told The Dallas Express. “It reflects on our city, all of council, and has understandably prompted questions within the community.”
Hogg called on Ross to publicly address the controversy.
“I do not condone the inappropriate language or actions from our mayor, even if it was in his past. I believe Mayor Ross should address the public as soon as possible, share his perspective on what happened, and explain why he felt his actions were appropriate. This clear commitment to transparency would go a long way toward rebuilding trust and confidence in our mayor’s office.”
This is not the first controversy involving Ross.
The Dallas Express previously reported that Ross acknowledged financial difficulties after the IRS began garnishing his salary over unpaid taxes. Records from the Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector as of June 2025 show Ross owes $940.39 in penalties and interest, with a total debt of $174,945.93.
The Dallas Express contacted the remaining city council members but did not receive a response. Hogg is the only council member who has publicly commented on the matter. Ross has remained silent and did not respond to requests for comment.
