True Texas Project CEO Julie McCarty is sounding the alarm on Wendy Burgess’ potential re-appointment to the Tarrant Appraisal District and calling for action.

“Which ISD do you pay taxes to? Our attention is divided on so many things right now, but this is significant,” McCarty wrote on Facebook.

The image beneath her message shows Burgess with the bolded words “WRONG FOR TAD.” The bottom of the image includes emails from each school district voting on whether to re-appoint Burgess.

Tarrant County residents have echoed McCarty’s disapproval of Burgess.

“What a joke! No way she should even be considered,” social media user Scott Stein responded on Facebook.
“Let’s not forget about her last term in Mansfield City Council when she lied and said she lived in Mansfield when she actually lived in Burleson. Cost the tax payers more money for the investigation. Her time is up – the voters spoke when they elect[ed] Rick. Time for Wendy to go home,” Myra Miller Castles wrote on Facebook about Burgess.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Burgess has received criticism from the public.

“She’s an apologist for Mr. Law; yes, she was. Shake your heads side to side, but she was. She even said at a board meeting one time, ‘thank you for following the law’ when it turns out there was potential oppression under his tenure,” TAD activist Joe Bennett told board members at a November Mansfield ISD board meeting. “When she got on that board being elected tax assessor-collector, she had his oversight, somebody that failed this school district,” TAD activist Joe Bennett previously told The Dallas Express.

The Dallas Express contacted Burgess’ office for comment but has received no response.
