Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and RecruitMilitary are joining forces to aid veterans in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in finding jobs.
The two organizations are hosting a Veterans Job Fair at AT&T Stadium this Thursday, February 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
As of Monday morning, 75 employers had registered for the fair, including Texas DPS, the CIA, and the Mansfield Police Department.
For veterans seeking to better navigate the job market, AT&T is hosting a seminar to go over job-seeking strategies at 10 a.m. before the actual fair starts. To attend, register here in advance.
Ryan Burgos, national employment assistant & director at DAV, told The Dallas Express that DAV has been around for over 100 years, and in 2014 stepped up to help veterans with employment.
“In order to have a successful transition off active duty it is imperative that service members locate meaningful employment opportunities so they can continue to provide for their families,” he said.
This year the organization has over 90 events to this effect scheduled, whether in-person or virtual.
The companies attending the event on Thursday come from a range of industries and most have multiple vacancies that need to be filled.
“Many of these companies will be conducting on-the-spot interviews and in some cases on-the-spot hiring! As of this (Wednesday) afternoon, we also have over 820 veterans, spouses, and active service members pre-registered to attend. Like I tell every job seeker I speak to it’s imperative that you come to this event because your dream job could be at this event!” Burgos stated.
DAV and RecruitMilitary host numerous job fairs throughout the country, according to Burgos.
Anyone planning to attend the fair itself should also take some preparatory steps beforehand, such as creating a RecruitMilitary profile and uploading their resume.
Details concerning complimentary parking and the entry map can be found here. Anyone attending should enter through Entry J to access AT&T Endzone West.
